Journaling with Intent

At the end of 2021, my commitment to myself was to start religiously journaling daily. I opened my journal and the last entry was from a year prior and the few before that another year. A questionable track record. I always start and write multiple pages catching up on a year gone by and the following days have nothing of more to share. This time there are days I struggle more than a paragraph of random thoughts and that’s enough. My purpose isn’t volumes of content, it’s purely to write. Ryan Holiday referenced this best, spend some time daily as part of your routine to put something on paper. And those daily entries become pages that then become yours. Your art, your memoir. Your journey.

As I have continued to write, so many things have come about. A better focus on daily and weekly goals. An avenue to ponder what may lie ahead. An intent to have a better mindset. A reference to stoicism; I have control over how I respond to external events. I choose to think and respond as the man I want to be not me of the past. To be a better husband and father. To be content. And to seek nectar, a huge thank you to The Angry Therapist! My journaling hasn’t created a vision of fame and fortune but has clarified being intentional with my time. The precious time watching my children grow, whether it’s playing in the Barbie dream house or dinosaurs. To find joy in life, in the little moments.

I will continue my journey, daily journaling as I find my path. And along the way, my hope is to provide others with guidance to be a better partner or parent. To help others find financial and personal freedom. There is no quick fix for your finances or life, it all starts with being intentional. Intentional in how you think and respond to the world around you. You are in control of your worth, your salary, how you choose to spend your money. Don’t let life happen to you and blame the world for the results.
