So much of the information online either through curated Instagram posts or elaborate financial plans all discuss the obvious. Practical advice on how to get out debt, save an emergency fund, 401k versus Roth IRA. Common sense strategies that yet we struggle with, the same for me on a personal level that lasted for years. But why and can that be changed? Personally, I believe it goes deeper than listing your debts or writing your first budget, it starts with your behaviors. How do you define behaviors? It’s your actions, routines, your mindset and the associated emotions. Your behaviors have an enormous impact on your life and who you are: your core values, your relationships, your finances, your choices and your happiness.

By making a conscious effort to influence your behaviors you create positive change in your life. What does money mean to you? The root of all evil or do you worship money, two extreme examples, but both showcase the influence a simple mindset has on us. Money’s only real value is what it does for you, it gives you choices. And having choices is freedom.
Why do people do what they do? Our behaviors are influenced by us wanting to feel good or to avoid feeling bad. Through your routines, you have created a rut of consistency for good or bad. To influence a change in routine is done by being intentional in changing your behaviors, small measurable choices. Many of us don’t action change until tragedy has struck; a near death experience, a global pandemic…. What if the near miss for you is a direct hit, life is short.
Over the last year, so many have changed jobs through the Great Resignation or through forced layoffs and through these changes I have seen so much positivity being created. So why stop there? Are you carrying a burden of debt, overspending every month, struggling with a relationship or your health. Every situation deserves a personalized approach either through re-evaluating your routines, a better support system, ideas you haven’t even considered, counseling or a new or different perspective. Maybe you just need to talk out loud to a complete stranger. Become the eternal optimist; take a risk for the betterment of your own future. You deserve it and so do the people close to you.
If you have made it this far and are still with me, this is your call to action. Your call to behavior. Do you have the courage to reach out? Send me a message via my site, email me, send me a text.
